Why Wargames Are Better Teaching Tools Than Books

Games force you to make decisions under constraints, which teaches strategic thinking in ways that passive reading cannot.

Reading about strategy is passive. You nod along with the author's analysis and feel like you understand.

Playing a wargame is active. You have to make choices with incomplete information, face tradeoffs, and live with consequences. Understanding becomes visceral.

This is why wargames are used in military education: they create learning through decision-making, not just knowledge transfer.
